Caring for Your Mouth

At-home protection is key, after all, you are definitely at home more than you are at our office. The most basic way to care for your mouth is by brushing your teeth twice a day with a great fluoride toothpaste and soft-bristled brush. No need to get fancy, a manual tooth brush used consistently with keep your mouth clean. Once throughout the day and right before you go to bed is ideal. This done along with floss is your best bet for a healthy mouth. Don’t forget to change your toothbrush every two or three months (or after you’ve fallen ill). Another way to keep your mouth healthy is but quitting tobacco. Smoking is incredibly harmful to your health and especially your mouth. Oral cancer is becoming all too common and can be left by the wayside if you keep cigarettes and tobacco out of your life.

Preventative Care

Make sure you keep up with regularly scheduled dental appointments. Twice a year is the norm, but if you experience any tooth pain or abnormalities, don’t hesitate to make an emergency dentist office. During dental exams, it is imperative you get screen for oral cancer. As stated in the previous paragraph, this is becoming an all too common cancer type, and early detection and treatment is key to keeping you healthy.
